Testing & diagnosis

Electrical fault finding.

Systematic testing to identify the source of power loss, tripping circuits, intermittent faults and unsafe electrical behaviour.

Find the causeDiagnosis comes before repair so the work addresses the actual fault.
Clear next stepsFindings and recommended work are explained before further work proceeds.

Common symptoms

Testing an electrical fault properly.

Electrical faults can be caused by damaged accessories, wiring defects, faulty appliances, moisture, overloaded circuits or protective devices operating as intended. Guesswork can be unsafe, so Voltixx uses appropriate testing and inspection to narrow down the cause.

Repeated tripping

A circuit breaker, RCD or RCBO trips again after being reset.

Partial power loss

Some lights or sockets stop working while the rest of the property has power.

Intermittent faults

A problem appears only at certain times or when particular equipment is used.

Heat or damage

Discolouration, buzzing, heat or visible damage around electrical fittings.

Preparing for the visit

Note when the problem started, what was switched on and whether any recent work took place. Do not repeatedly reset a device that continues to trip, and stop using equipment if there is heat, smoke or a burning smell.
