Consumer units
When replacement may be considered.
A consumer unit distributes electricity across the property and contains protective devices for its circuits. Age alone does not determine whether replacement is required; condition, suitability, damage and the wider installation all need to be considered.
Visible damage
Heat damage, cracking or other deterioration should be assessed promptly.
Planned alterations
New circuits or substantial work may require review of the existing equipment.
Inspection findings
An EICR or fault investigation may identify concerns needing further action.
Older equipment
Existing protection and condition can be reviewed against the needs of the installation.
Assessment and quotation
Share clear photos of the consumer unit, meter area and surrounding access if it is safe to do so. Voltixx can then arrange an assessment and explain the proposed scope, disruption and price.
